Mozambique: Agricultural Program Manager – Agriculture Department Summary:
Food for the Hungry International is recruiting an Agricultural Program Manager to be Responsible for the management of the all USAID funded Title II agricultural programs in Mozambique, oversee complementary programs that target food security and agriculturally based income generation. This is done in close coordination with the nutrition component of the Title II funding to meet overall project targets. The program works through two primary components: marketing and extension. The location of work is Beira but with regular visits to all districts that requires 25 to 30% of work schedule out of Beira office.
 
Qualifications:
1.       B.Sc and M.SC in Agriculture and minimum of 5 years professional experience in agricultural management and donor relations
2.       Good organizational and human resource management skills and able to motivate, organize, and train a team of up to 100 individuals
3.       Demonstrated ability to develop and manage a budget of USD $1,000,000+ per year
4.       In-depth knowledge of a report writing and hands on training experience.
5.       Proficient in Word, Excel, Power point
6.       Fluent in reading and writing the English language
7.       Professes the Christian faith
8.       Able to work independently with creativity
9.       Driver’s license
10.   Agreement with FHI vision statement
11.   Good health, including strong back and neck, able to travel to communities very regularly on rough roads.
 
Key duties:
1.       Program management: Develop, manage and supervise implementation of all agriculture program activities in accordance with the grant agreements with Donors.
Ensure appropriate policies and procedures are followed in the implementation of the programs. Be available for consultation and trouble-shooting in difficult program problems in the field.
2.       Budget management: Ensure the programs are managed within the agreed budgets and that the concurrent financial guidelines are adhered to.
3.       Monitoring and Evaluation: Ensure reports are written and submitted timely (meeting both internal and donor requirements) evaluations are carried out, and appropriate corrective/preventative actions are taken.
4.       Staff management: Ensure staff is adequately managed and equiped to carry out their jobs. This includes performance reviews, day to day staff management and identification of training and capacity building needs.
5.       Training and capacity building: Ensure that the Project Staff is adequately trained to carry out their jobs. This Ensuring appropriate content in their training sessions; and the preparation of training materials
6.       External Coordination and representation: Coordinate program implementation with other NGO’s and government partners working in the area. Ensure the contractual partners of FHI implement the programs within the established guidelines. Represent and negotiate FHI’s interest in meetings and coordination with donors.
