After two weeks in Savai'i the group makes its way up to Upolu for a week of Marine ecology at beautiful Lalomanu. The setting feels a bit different after spending time in the village and it can often take a couple of days to get used to the "touristy" feeling of the place. However, there are just as amazing and interesting people to meet here and the family that runs the hotel pull through in proving that Samoan hospitality is still alive on this island too. We met up with the marine ecology professor, Kristel Van Houte Howes, and immediately dove into studies about the surrounding reefs. It's hard to complain about studies in a place like this and the coral just beckons one to come and explore it's bountiful diversity.
